I ended up chit chatting with IR today and i feel better holding PMT for the short term. I think the market is pricing in a dividend cut BUT the game is not over yet.
By the end of September we will be hearing about results from the Wilrich hz liquid rich well. In the beginning of October at the latest we will be getting the results of 5 Cardium oil wells.
These are short term variables that can influence my position until the end of the year. The dividend won’t be cut so soon and hedging runs through 2012 and 2013 (see latest presentation). Wirwick gas storage is up and running with expansion program for next year and alot of interest.
A cold winter would help but i am more counting on their game changers not the weather. I’ll be sitting on this one for a couple of months and keep a close eye on how things progress. Downside risk is limited as my position is small (1000 shares total) and the company has alot of margin to maneuver in case they need money like selling non-core assets.
Let’s see how it goes…

I wish you the best with PMT as the Q2 numbers and down trend scared me away 2 weeks ago.
However I think your right that TSE:PMT could be a big win if they do stabilize and you would have gotten it at a good price–if they don’t then I think the div will get cut and the stock will drop a proportional percentage.
I am curious what makes you think they will stabilize before cutting (or doing both which would balance the position.)
